Our New Pastor
On June 8, 2022, Bishop Deborah Wallace-Padgett announced the appointments of the Pastors of Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church. Effective July 1, 2022. The Rev. Kimberly Isley-Selby is the Pastor of Vermont United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Isley-Selby received her Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Louisville. After completing her Master of Divinity degree at Southern Seminary and being ordained in 1993, Kim moved to Knoxville to enter the Chaplain Residency program at Baptist Hospital (1994) and a second year Trauma Residency at UTMCK (1995).
Her previous appointments in Holston began as Associate Pastor of Fountain City, Knoxville District; Pastor of The Bethel-Vonore Circuit, Maryville; Pastor Sand Branch, Knoxville; Pastor Logan's Chapel, Maryville; Pastor Trinity Lenoir City, Oak Ridge; and for the last eight years, Pastor Centenary Erwin, Three Rivers.
Ministry has a rich heritage in Kim's family. her deceased father, The Rev. Dr. Walter Isley, and her deceased first husband, The Rev. Bill Beard, were both Elders in Holston also. Her paternal Uncle (who has just retired from Bishop Wallace-Padgett's other Annual Conference). Her mother, the Rev. Carolyn Isley, is a retired Episcopal Priest who resides in Greeneville.
Kim married Daryl Selby on January 1, 2022. Daryl is a native son of Kingsport - his family most all reside within 10 miles of the church. Daryl works for Schwan's out of the Gray Depot. They (along with their cat and dog) have moved to the Bloomingdale parsonage. They are to be joined shortly by their daughter, Kaitlin Marin Isley-Selby Beard, who has just graduated from ETSU.
Kim and Daryl are both excited about this opportunity to meet the people of the church and the community and begin this ministry together.
Welcome to The Isley-Selby family!
